A novel in which the feelings and emotional intrigue, together with social criticism soaked with irony and humor, make up a story that evokes great works such as Out of Africa, Fried Green Tomatoes, Like Water for Chocolate, The Bridges of Madison County ... a contemporary story, endearing, funny and full of everyday reality that will not leave you indifferent and to which every woman, withoutexception, will be identified, and some men, only the chosen ones, will find the answers to many questions. An exciting story, close and overwhelming with which we feel the protective shadow of that magical red umbrella that shelters the Witches of Eastwick, nickname for Jimena and her two friends. Water women: sensitive, fragile and strong at the same time, but above all, women.

A shudder ran through his body and he took a step back: the hand of the figure, which seconds earlier had been clenched in a fist, now lay open, its palm stretched out invitingly. For a moment the cold morning air seemed to burn in Max's throat and he could feel a throbbing in his temples. When his family moves to an old house by the sea, Max discovers an abandoned garden of mysterious statues positioned on a six-pointed star. In the centre rising out of the mist stands a clown, its arm outstretched. Then Max meets Roland, who takes him swimming through the underwater ruins of an old shipwreck near the lighthouse where he lives with his grandfather, and Max sees the uncanny six-pointed star again. But it's Roland's grandfather and his tale of the shipwreck and the circus troupe on board that makes Max realise that he is not the only one to be affected the clown's sinister presence. The Prince of Mist is an intriguing tale of good versus evil, a compelling gothic mystery for young adults from the best-selling author of The Shadow of the Wind and The Angel's Game. Carlos Ruiz Zafon was born in Barcelona in 1964 and is one of the world's most read and best loved writers. His novels have been translated into more than forty languages, garnering numerous international prizes and reaching millions of readers. He lives in Barcelona.

Translated by Constance Garnett, with an Introduction and Notes by Agnes Cardinal, Honorary Senior Lecturer in Comparative Literature at the University of Kent. Prince Myshkin returns to Russia from an asylum in Switzerland. As he becomes embroiled in the frantic amatory and financial intrigues which centre around a cast of brilliantly realised characters and which ultimately lead to tragedy, he emerges as a unique combination of the Christian ideal of perfection and Dostoevsky's own views, afflictions and manners. His serene selflessness is contrasted with the worldly qualities of every other character in the novel. Dostoevsky supplies a harsh indictment of the Russian ruling class of his day who have created a world which cannot accomodate the goodness of this idiot.

Mein Kampf in the original edition (German, presumably printed in black letter typeface) was supposedly dictated to Rudolf Hess, I presume as a typescript, though this has been denied. There seems to be no way to separate out the possible adjustments made to Hitler's words. Volume 1 was written while Hitler was imprisoned in Bavaria: there was a separatist Bavarian movement against Prussia (i.e. Roman Catholic south vs Protestant north), no doubt encouraged by Jews, which was 'about to become fact'; Ludendorff and Hitler opposed it in November 1923, with a group of men, of whom 16 died. In November 1923, the NSDAP was forbidden, and in February 1924 Hitler was sentenced to five years, though he was released in December 1925 after which the 2nd volume was published.

One of the world's most famous novels, One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, blends the natural with the supernatural in one of the most magical reading experiences on earth. 'Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendia was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice' Gabriel Garcia Marquez's great masterpiece is the story of seven generations of the Buendia family and of Macondo, the town they have built. Though little more than a settlement surrounded by mountains, Macondo has its wars and disasters, even its wonders and its miracles. A microcosm of Columbian life, its secrets lie hidden, encoded in a book, and only Aureliano Buendia can fathom its mysteries and reveal its shrouded destiny. Blending political reality with magic realism, fantasy and comic invention, One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of the most daringly original works of the twentieth century. Nobel Peace Prize winner and New York Times bestselling author Malala Yousafzai's first picture book, inspired by her own childhood. * "This is a wonderful read for younger students that will also provide insight and encourage discussion about the wider world. ... The simplicity of Yousafzai's writing and the powerful message she sends, make this book inspirational for all." --- School Library Journal (starred review) Malala's first picture book will inspire young readers everywhere to find the magic all around them. As a child in Pakistan, Malala made a wish for a magic pencil. She would use it to make everyone happy, to erase the smell of garbage from her city, to sleep an extra hour in the morning. But as she grew older, Malala saw that there were more important things to wish for. She saw a world that needed fixing. And even if she never found a magic pencil, Malala realized that she could still work hard every day to make her wishes come true. This beautifully illustrated volume tells Malala's story for a younger audience and shows them the worldview that allowed Malala to hold on to hope even in the most difficult of times.
