Since this book was published over a century ago, countless readers have learned through its pages that no one can teach prayer better than Jesus Christ himself. This enduring classic will transform your prayers and life as you open your heart to the prayer-lessons Jesus gave. "The Father waits to hear every prayer of faith. He wants to give us whatever we ask for in Jesus' name. If there is one thing I think the Church needs to learn, it is that God intends prayer to have an answer, and that we have not yet fully conceived of what God will do for us if we believe that our prayers will be heard. God hears prayer." Reader Review: I grew up reading the Bible, attending church, praying, etc. I never felt I really understood prayer as I should, but it seemed no resource existed that could impart the depth of understanding I wished to attain on the subject. That is, until I stumbled upon Andrew Murray's book Lord, Teach Us to Pray. This book spoke to the depth of my soul. It has opened my eyes to the amazement of God's real intent for prayer in the life of a believer. As I read this book, I underlined important insights. Alas, some chapters were nearly completely underlined! This book truly is that helpful in mining the gems of prayer as God intended it.

THE disciples had been with Christ, and seen Him pray. They had learntto understand something of the connection between His wondrous life in public, and His secret life of prayer. They had learnt to believe in Him as a Master inthe art of prayer—none could pray like Him. And so they came to Him with therequest, ‘Lord, teach us to pray.’ And in after years they would have told usthat there were few things more wonderful or blessed that He taught them thanHis lessons on prayer. And now still itcomes to pass, as He is praying in a, certain place, that disciples who see Himthus engaged feel the need of repeating the same request, ‘Lord, teach us topray.’ As we grow in the Christian life, the thought and the faith of theBeloved Master in His never-failing intercession becomes evermore precious, andthe hope of being Like Christ in Hisintercession gains an attractiveness before unknown. And as me see Him pray, and remember that there is none who can pray like Him, and none who can teachlike Him, we feel the petition of the disciples, ‘Lord, teach us to pray,’ isjust what we need. And as we think how all He is and has, how He Himself is ourvery own, how He is Himself our life, we feel assured that we have but to ask,and He will be delighted to take us up into closer fellowship with Himself, andteach us to pray even as He prays.

The presence of the Lord Jesus. That is the secret of the Christian's strength and joy. And what is to make a difference between Christ's disciples-not those who are just hoping to get to heaven, but Christ's whole-hearted disciples-what is to make a difference between them and other people? It is this, to be in fellowship with Jesus-every hour of the day.. It is by faith that I learn to know the invisible One, the invisible God, and that I see Him. Faith is my spiritual eye-sight for the unseen and heavenly. You often try hard to trust God, and you fail. Why? Because you have not taken time first to see God. How can you trust God fully until you have met Him and known Him? Murray's short book, Jesus Himself, describes the relationship that all followers of Christ long for--to be guided by Christ's Spirit on His path, hearing His voice and seeing with His light. Only 18 pages long, and available for free in the Kindle edition, it is packed with devotion for Jesus, and describes how to get closer to Jesus. Murray is candid in noting that there is nothing short of Jesus that will satisfy our hearts, and nothing short of complete devotion to Him that will transform our lives into ones that glorify Jesus. Not only should we think about, speak about, and believe in Jesus Himself, but we should come to the point where the disciples arrived: "and they knew Him." Everything is to be found in that. These brief messages comprise a revision of two addresses, which originally appeared in the South African Pioneer. Though originally written in 1893, Jesus Himself feels like many of Andrew Murray's other works--as fresh and relevant as if it were written yesterday! This little booklet is small yet complete; an easy read that will both minister to you now, and have you looking for more from this amazing preacher!
