This eBook edition is optimized for on-screen viewing with cross-linked questions, answers, and explanations. DECODE THE QUESTIONS. DEFEAT THE LSAT. All the practice in the world won’t help you improve if you can’t understand what you’re doing wrong. That’s why The Princeton Review’s new LSAT Decoded series is the perfect companion for LSAC’s Official LSAT PrepTest® books. LSAC provides the real exams but no accompanying answer explanations; we skip the question stems but provide valuable, step-by-step solutions for every one of the 1000+ questions on those tests. Armed with explanations, you can start to understand why you got an LSAT question wrong—and feel confident about when you’re getting them right. By working through each question methodically, you’ll: • learn how the test-writers think, and how to outthink them; • start to pinpoint the argument types that consistently trip you up, and learn the best ways to handle them; • train yourself to swiftly and effectively build diagrams for tricky Logic Games. With the test-conquering tips and strategies found in LSAT Decoded’s explanations, you'll finally be able to decipher the secret language of this notoriously difficult exam. This book is intended to be used as a companion to the LSAC-issued 10 New Actual, Official LSAT PrepTests with Comparative Reading™ (PrepTests 52–61), which contains real tests administered from September 2007 to October 2010. The full text of the PrepTests is not included in this book.

This book extends current understandings of the effects of using locative social media on spatiality, the experience of time and identity. This is a pertinent and timely topic given the increase in opportunities people now have to explicitly and implicitly share their location through digital and mobile technologies. There is a growing body of research on locative media, much of this literature has concentrated on spatial issues. Research here has explored how locative media and location-based social media (LBSN) are used to communicate and coordinate social interactions in public space, affecting how people approach their surroundings, turning ordinary life “into a game”, and altering how mobile media is involved in understanding the world. This book offers a critical analysis of the effect of usage of locative social media on identity through an engagement with the current literature on spatiality, a novel critical investigation of the temporal effects of LBSN use and a view of identity as influenced by the spatio-temporal effects of interacting with place through LBSN. Drawing on phenomenology, post-phenomenology and critical theory on social and locative media, alongside established sociological frameworks for approaching spatiality and the city, it presents a comprehensive account of the effects of LBSN and locative media use.

Horse racing in America dates back to the colonial era when street races were a common occurrence. The commercialization of horse racing produced a sport that would briefly surpass all others in popularity, with annual races such as the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont Stakes growing to rank among America’s most celebrated sporting events. From the very onset, horse racing and gambling were intertwined. As the popularity of racing and betting grew, so, too, did the controversies and corruption. Yet, despite the best efforts of social reformers, bookmakers stubbornly plied their trade, adapting and evolving as horse racing gave way to team sports as the backbone of their business. In Sports Betting and Bookmaking: An American History, Arne K. Lang provides a sweeping overview of legal and illegal sports and race betting in the United States, from the first thoroughbred meet at Saratoga in 1863 through the modern day. The cultural war between bookmakers and their adversaries is a recurring theme, as bookmakers were often forced into the shadows during times of social reform, only to bloom anew when the time was ripe. While much of bookmaking’s history takes place in New York, other locales such as Chicago, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City—not to mention Cyberspace—are also discussed in this volume. A comprehensive exploration of the evolution of bookmaking—including the legal developments and technological advancements that have taken place over the years—Sports Betting and Bookmaking is a fascinating read. This informative and engaging book will be of interest to anyone wanting to learn more about America’s long history with gambling on horse racing and team sports.
