Midair is a true account of one of the most remarkable tales of survival in the history of aviation – a midair collision at 30,000 feet by two bomb-laden B-52s over a category 5 super typhoon above the South China Sea during the outset of the Vietnam War. Authored by Craig K. Collins, the nephew of B-52 pilot Maj. Don Harten, Midair is an historically important work that is about more than survival. Interwoven through Harten’s dramatic story of his million-to-one struggle against near-certain death is a previously unexamined look at how America had developed an aerial battle plan that would likely have ended the Vietnam conflict in under a month during the late winter of 1965. Instead, the country’s war planners and politicians veered off course and into a bloody eight-year quagmire. Harten was on the February 1965 top-secret mission – a massive B-52 bombing raid of railways, supply depots, and airfields in and around Hanoi – that was called off in mid-flight. That mission and battle plan was mothballed until Dec. 18, 1972, when it was dusted off and dubbed Linebacker II, effectively ending the war within a week. Over 120 B-52s bombed Hanoi-area military installations for eight consecutive days. As a result of the heavy bombing, the North Vietnamese declared a truce, attended peace talks in Paris in early January and signed the Paris Peace Accords, ending hostilities in Vietnam on Jan. 27, 1973. It is the gripping tale of a young Air Force officer’s first combat mission that instantly pulls the reader in and never lets up.

Everyone faces challenges in life. Hans Wink, born behind the Iron Curtain in East Germany at the height of the cold war wasn’t going anywhere fast. When he was forced out of vocational school at 16 for his “behavior unbecoming of a young communist,” his only hope was taking over his father’s tailor shop at some point. The only thing keeping him going was a series of cheap romances fueled by even cheaper liquor. Then, shortly before his 18th birthday, his father died and his step-mother slammed the door in his face. "IN MID-AIR" is the unbelievably true story of a rebellious teenager locked in an authoritarian regime. A coming of age drama of what it took to overcome his childhood and family, the Berlin Wall, culture shock, language barriers and a love so passionate that it nearly destroyed him. It is the story of a fairy-tale marriage, a beautiful family and a horrific divorce. It it’s about accepting defeat, yet never giving up and never losing hope. It’s about setting your goals high, starting over as many times as you have to and working hard to achieve those goals. The sky is literally the limit. This book is for anyone facing a challenge in life, for anyone who needs a little inspiration to help them get up, brush themselves off and get going again. Now that Captain Hans Wink has flown air-ambulance and diplomatic missions around the world for over two decades, you can say he’s been around the block a few times. This autobiography includes some of Hans’ observations, seen from air bases from Afghanistan to Uganda and from his two homelands – Germany and Florida. But don’t worry; there’s action. From police interrogations, border guards and jail cells to car chases, fights and jet landings in war zones "IN MID-AIR" is an extraordinary autobiography that once it lifts you up, won’t let you down.

At the time, it was the most terrible airline disaster that had ever occurred, anywhere in the world, and yet no one ever wrote a book about it... WE ARE GOING IN is the story of the midair collision over the Grand Canyon in 1956, in which all 128 persons aboard lost their lives. It is a search for the truth told largely as a documentary, presenting some of the author’s theories about what happened and providing generous supportive evidence or proof for each of them. The author also repudiates a number of longstanding beliefs, by re-examining the physical evidence and drawing on testimony and reasoning. Along with his emphasis on determining the course of events on the day of the disaster, he has written WE ARE GOING IN with heartfelt compassion, and because of this the book is not only informative but also dramatic and moving. The author’s style moves back and forth between mundane or technical subjects, and the grave, terrible circumstances and events that caused the accident, interspersing these with many compassionate sentiments about the people involved. He also offers surprisingly pertinent, compelling insights into the human psyche and the role of fate in the unfolding of events. The author presents many simple facts and special terms and concepts pertaining to aviation; with a fuller understanding of airplanes and flying, the reader cannot help but find a better grasp of the tragedy. On the other hand, for the reader who may prefer to experience the story more purely as a drama, the Foreword includes an outline of where most of the technical sections are. The book is written in such a way that these can be skipped without disrupting the continuity or the substance of the story. Whichever path the reader chooses to follow through the book, he is sure to come away with renewed reverence for mankind.

Aging actress Wynonna Bertrand is well-known among the entertainment elite as someone not to cross in business—or in bed. Known for her evil temper and total disregard for anyone else but herself, Wynonna still thinks she is the hottest property in Hollywood. Already in a foul mood before the plane takes off, Wynonna unhappily settles into her seat in first class with the intent of drowning her troubles in Scotch. On board with her is an eclectic group of passengers, including Paul Danielson, a drop-dead gorgeous New Yorker with a look that could set Hollywood on fire; Craig Lewis, a talent scout who is always on the search for a new recruit; Thelma and Millicent, longtime friends who are headed to California for a girl’s getaway; and Norman and Katherine Great, seemingly quiet airplane virgins who are about to reveal a completely different side.
