This groundbreaking book demonstrates that between the results of the 1976 Viking I lander and the latest scientific discoveries – from fertile Martian soil to microbe-ridden meteorites – there is a powerful case for life on the Red Planet and beyond. Exploring what forms extraterrestrial life might take and where it may reside, We Are Not Alone provides a captivating tour of the Solar System and shows that it’s much more crowded than we previously realised. Dirk Schulze-Makuch is Associate Professor in Astrobiology at Washington State University. David Darling is an acclaimed popular science writer and bestselling author.

Man Is Not Alone is a profound, beautifully written examination of the ingredients of piety: how man senses God's presence, explores it, accepts it, and builds life upon it. Abraham Joshua Heschel's philosophy of religion is not a philosophy of doctrine or the interpretation of a dogma. He erects his carefully built structure of thought upon foundations which are universally valid but almost generally ignored. It was Man Is Not Alone which led Reinhold Niebuhr accurately to predict that Heschel would "become a commanding and authoritative voice not only in the Jewish community but in the religious life of America." With its companion volume, God in Search of Man, it is revered as a classic of modern theology.

In the early 1990s, while working at the United Nations Development Programme in New York, Atala Dorothy Toy went through a near-death experience that took her on a journey and showed her a new way of perceiving energy--one in which all objects in the universe (including machines, stones, and trees) are alive, conscious, and willing to cooperate with humans to fashion a healthier, more holistic world. Now in this easy-to-read book she teaches the deceptively simple art of how to communicate with any object or life form. Whether it’s a pet, tree, gemstone, power line, computer, nature spirit, extra-terrestrial, angel, or inner guide--the process is the same. All it takes is knowing you can do it and then learning how.

Annette Jennings is a native of Washington D.C., and her story is one of both tragedy and triumph. Through the most adverse of situations, we see how life can trap us, in an attempt to keep us from the grace of God. Few of us have the courage to look for help, or what avenues are available to us. Through-out her life, we see that God was and is truly a miracle worker, and what He did for Annette, He can and will do for you. Few of us will ever experience the life Annette lived for so many years. This writing is her way of shouting from the mountain tops about the glory of God. Whoever you are, and whatever your circumstances; God is ready to assist you. Today Annette is the mother of two children, a daughter Antoinette, and a son William. She has dedicated her life to God, and was ordained an Elder in her home church(Newness of Life, Bible Church). Elder Annette Jennings says to you no matter what youve done, no matter what youre going through, God is all you need; all you have to do is ask.

One in three women around the world has faced violence. More often than not, this violence comes from an intimate partner or a member of their families- making the home one of the least safe places for women. In Afghanistan, 87% of women have said they've faced verbal, physical or sexual violence at home. These statistics are staggering and behind them are real women struggling with violence and intimidation and the trauma they bring. This is especially tragic in a country where there is a systematic effort to keep women at home and prevent their economic empowerment, legal barriers to women seeking justice, divorce, and custody, and rampant sexism that stigmatizes women survivors of sexualized violence. A short guide written by Free Women Writers, a grassroots collective of volunteer Afghan women students and writers, hopes to help women in Afghanistan through providing practical tips for seeking legal aid, forming networks of support, and protecting their mental health. The guide is unprecedented for the country. It includes discussions culturally-taboo issues such as marital rape and extra marital relationships and separates myths about the drivers of violence from the reality. More importantly, it tells women survivors of violence that they are not alone and it is not their fault. The guide has been written after four years of research, conversations with survivors of violence, and a study of the country's civil laws and the Elimination of Violence against Women Act of 2009.
