This book is the opposite of a misery memoir and is certainly safe to give to cancer patients as a cheerful present. More importantly, it sheds new light on: • Why Kim Kardashian is worth Keeping Up With • What playlists to make for MRI scans • The truth behind the legend of Medea • Bikini etiquette on a deserted beach • What to do with a glut of rainbow chard • What an Oscar-winner should say in an acceptance speech • How to deal with cold-callers selling life insurance • And what to wear on a March Against Menopause (layers, obviously)

Does someone you know have cancer? Do you have cancer? Are you going to be taking care of someone who has cancer? Or, perhaps you want to prevent your family members and yourself from ever getting cancer. If these are any of the reasons for reading this book, you are making the best decision of your life. Are we winning the battle against cancer? Today, in the United States and Canada, the three main treatments for dealing with cancer are surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. For a few kinds of cancer, such as skin cancer, surgery can save someone's life. The dreaded diseases of childhood cancers are uniquely susceptible to chemotherapy and radiation. However, for everyone else, chemotherapy and radiation will only slow down the cancer's progression and leave patients fighting all the damage done to their immune systems. When someone hears that she has cancer, does she feel secure, safe, or petrified? It is because of these feelings of apprehension that I sought out a truly helpful therapy that would strengthen the immune system and thus possibly prevent cancer. Is this therapy new? No, it has been around since the l920s. Before then, it was used by the Ojibwa (Chippewa Indians) as a cancer cure. The cancer therapy is called Essiac, and it was discovered by Rene Caisse, RN. Have you ever heard of Essiac? When someone tries to find out about Essiac online, he might find one site on cancer therapies hosted by Quackwatch, which states that Essiac has no antitumor activity. This is totally untrue. Several books have been written on Essiac, but I have pulled together research and proof that has not been written about before. I will offer proof that Essiac, an alternative cancer approach, does alter and stop cancer. There is evidence that Essiac really does work when it is used as it is supposed to be. Besides having found many research projects that tell how Essiac and its component herbs have antitumor activity, I have also discovered that in 1996, China's department of health declared the Essiac formula a Class A medicine-one that deals with life-threatening diseases-and since then, it has been used to treat cancer in China. Quite notably, it has demonstrated a clear ability to inhibit the growth of tumors. The work that I have gathered goes into everything regarding Essiac, including the history of Essiac's initial use by Rene M. Caisse RN, who spent fifty years of her life treating people with cancer. Essiac is touted by Sir Frederick Banting (the discoverer of insulin), Dr. Emma M. Carson (recipient of awards from Presidents Roosevelt and Wilson), and Dr. Charles Brusch (personal physician to President John F. Kennedy). But most importantly, there is proof today that after ninety years of using it, even without standard protocol, direct evidence shows that Essiac does work. This books shows that the natural herbs that comprise Essiac, which were originally offered by the Ojibwa Indians, do have a preventative and/or healing effect on cancer.

'I can't bear not to be with these three most important people in my life. I can't bear not to be there alongside Mark as my children grow up. My bright, funny, affectionate boys who are never embarrassed to say, "love you mummy", and say it ten times a day.' Renowned as a much-loved and highly respected BBC journalist, Victoria Derbyshire has spent 20 years finding the human story behind the headlines. In 2015 she found herself at the heart of the news, with a devastating breast cancer diagnosis. With honesty and openness, she decided to live out her treatment and recovery in the spotlight in a series of video diaries that encouraged thousands to seek diagnosis and help. Victoria has kept a diary since she was nine years old and in DEAR CANCER, LOVE VICTORIA she shares her day to day experiences of life following her diagnosis and coming to terms with a future that wasn't planned. From the moment she woke up to find her right breast had collapsed, to telling her partner and children, through to mastectomy and chemotherapy. From wearing a wig to work and hiding it from her colleagues, to the relief and joy of finishing treatment before immediately flying to Glasgow to present a debate on the European Referendum. By sharing her story, she became the person that mums, daughters, sisters, husbands, boyfriends and family members contacted to thank as they tried to find ways to cope with their own and their loved ones' prognosis, and needed to know that they were not alone. Victoria's story is an affecting and at times heart-breaking one but it is so often laugh-out-loud too. Moving, wonderfully heartwarming and ultimately uplifting, this is a powerful account of a brave struggle told with honesty, courage and emotion that gives strength to anyone touched by cancer.

Cancer touches more lives than you may think. According to the World Health Organization, one out of three women alive today, and one out of two men, will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. To Ty Bollinger, this isn’t just a statistic. It’s personal. After losing seven members of his family to cancer over the course of a decade, Ty set out on a global quest to learn as much as he possibly could about cancer treatments and the medical industry that surrounds the disease. He has written this book to share what he’s uncovered —some of which may shock you —and to give you new resources for coping with cancer in your life or the life of someone you love. As Ty explains, there are many methods we can access to treat and prevent cancer that go well beyond chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery; we just don’t know about them. The Truth about Cancer delves into the history of medicine —all the way back to Hippocrates’s credo of “do no harm” —as well as cutting-edge research showing the efficacy of dozens of unconventional cancer treatments that are helping patients around the globe. You’ll read about the politics of cancer; facts and myths about its causes (a family history is only part of the picture); and the range of tools available to diagnose and treat it. If you’re facing a cancer diagnosis right now, this book may help you and your health-care provider make choices about your next steps. If you’re already undergoing conventional treatment, it may help you support your health during the course of chemo or radiation. If you’re a health-care provider and want to learn all you can to help your patients, it will expand your horizons and inspire you with true stories of successful healing. And if you just want to see cancer in a new light, it will open your eyes.

“An inspiring and deep personal history of how cancer closed some doors but opened so many others, leading to personal transformation and growth.” (Joel Kahn, MD, Professor of Medicine, Wayne State University School of Medicine) After Brenda Michaels’s third cancer diagnosis and being told she had a year to live, she boldly stepped away from the accepted medical model, said “no” to chemotherapy, and chose alternative treatment. This unorthodox path, the connection of mind, body, and spirit, which many experts now believe is the key to true healing, ultimately saved Brenda’s life and put her in control of her own destiny. Her story reveals the immense healing power available within each of us. With each obstacle Brenda encounters, we see the indefatigable courage and fortitude she demonstrates in facing her demons both inside and out. Brenda’s uplifting memoir encourages us to listen to our inner voice, trust our intuition, and look at the true source of healing. When we are willing to look deep within and take responsibility for our choices, we have the power to alter the course of our lives in miraculous and unexpected ways.
