Thomas Anstey Guthrie (1856-1934), was an English novelist and journalist, who wrote his comic novels under the pseudonym F. Anstey. He was educated at King's College London and at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and was called to the bar in 1880. But the popular success of his story Vice Versa (1882) with its topsy-turvy substitution of a father for his schoolboy son, at once made his reputation as a humourist of an original type. He published in 1883 a serious novel, The Giant's Robe; but, in spite of its excellence, he discovered that it was not as a serious novelist but as a humourist that the public insisted on regarding him. As such his reputation was further confirmed by The Black Poodle (1884), The Tinted Venus (1885), and A Fallen Idol (1886). Many of Anstey's stories have been adapted into theatrical productions and motion pictures. The Tinted Venus (1885) was adapted by S. J. Perelman, Ogden Nash, and Kurt Weill into One Touch of Venus in 1943.

For fans of Artemis--The visionary tour de force from "one of the grand masters of science fiction" (The Wall Street Journal). Widely acknowledged as one of Robert A. Heinlein's greatest works, The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress rose from the golden age of science fiction to become an undisputed classic--and a touchstone for the philosophy of personal responsibility and political freedom. A revolution on a lunar penal colony--aided by a self-aware supercomputer--provides the framework for a story of a diverse group of men and women grappling with the ever-changing definitions of humanity, technology, and free will--themes that resonate just as strongly today as they did when the novel was first published. The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress gives readers an extraordinary, thought-provoking glimpse into the mind of Robert A. Heinlein, who, even now, "shows us where the future is" (Tom Clancy).

In this “spellbinding and utterly unique” coming of age novel, a nineteen-year-old Liverpool student drifts into a world of drugs and sexual hedonism (The Independent). Millie and her best friend, Jamie, have been through it all together. However, as Jamie begins to settle down with his girlfriend, Millie is lured away from a promising academic career toward a life of numbing drugs and increasingly deviant sexual encounters. Feeling betrayed by one of the few nurturing relationships in her life, Millie’s increasingly reckless behavior leads her to discover her own limitations, as well as the adult complexities of a family she thought she knew. Portraying a generation of youth—those coming of age in the eighties and nineties—through the prism of Millie, Helen Walsh has created one of the most startling novels to come out of Britain since Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting. “If you want to find out what is like to be a woman in England today [read] Brass.” —British Vogue “You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more ballsy, obnoxious, quick-witted, and lusty heroine than . . . Millie. . . . She’s just the kind of character you’ll be drawn to like a magnet.” —Bust “Walsh’s prose is rhythmic and carefully judged, and her descriptions are convincingly tactile.” —The New Yorker “A damn good read.” —TimeOut New York “Millie’s caustic commentary on the electro-charged sexual and intellectual power of post-adolescent women heralds the arrival of a promising new voice from the darker fringes of anti-girlhood.” —Publishers Weekly

Wren's father has revealed to her the secret of their world, that it is only one of many in a clockwork solar system; but it is dying and to save her home, she must first escape it. The Orrery is a fully functional, life-size clockwork solar system, a clutch of planets orbiting a vast Brass Sun via immense metal spars. But the once-unified collection of worlds has regressed into eccentric fiefdoms, and ice is encroaching on the outer planets as the sun is dying. Wren and Eptimus must find the key to restart the sun, but first must escape the world known as The Keep.... This is a wholly original new SF-clockpunk series from the bestselling artist of New Deadwardians and the hit writer of Scarlet Traces and Hinterkind.
