Acclaimed illustrator James Gulliver Hancock has an obsession with re-imaging his world with his drawings. His extensive travels are a key part of his creative drive. Combined with his obsession with scale and detail, it has culminated in Gulliver’s New Travels, a stunning creative colouring book that is a modern take on the 18th-century Gulliver’s Travels, playing with scale as in the land of Lilliput and the giants of Brobdingnag. Taking in places from around the world, from all landscapes, and even future worlds and those in galaxies far away, the illustrations are playful, fanciful but always wonderful to look at. And James’s illustrations are crying out for a dash of colour. He wants you to engage with the drawings and make them your own with pens, pencils, paints and more. As you colour in, you’ll discover great little details you hadn’t spotted before, such as the diver swimming through the flowers and the tiny climber scaling a cactus. A major creative talent provides a wonderful book to share with those with a passion for colour. Raised in Australia, James Gulliver Hancock is now based in both Brooklyn, New York and his beach studio in Sydney. His print work has been used by Coca-Cola, Ford Motors, Herman Miller, the New York Times and Simon and Schuster. He is particularly known for his personal project All The Buildings in New York.

Designed by a master sculptor and woodcarver of the Victorian era (born 1823, died 1877), these superb ornaments are now available to all who are fascinated by the elements of Victorian Gothic style. Dragons and gargoyles abound, along with stylised birds and other animalistic shapes -- the very stuff of Victorian Gothic ornamentation. Ernst Plassman originally offered these designs, in the form of columns, plinths, borders, friezes and cornices, for use by artists, craftsmen and architects. Their successors today will find them of even greater value with the growing interest in all things Victorian. The introduction by Ramona Jablonski discusses this rare find, its place in art history and it adaptive uses today.

This volume is the result of the Association for Canadian Studies in Australia and New Zealand (ACSANZ) 1995 conference held at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. A special feature of the conference, though not its exclusive focus, was trade relations. But as with all ACSANZ conferences, the papers were wide-ranging and contributors were not limited to a single theme. This publication is a refereed collection from more than sixty papers that were presented and range from discussions of immigration policy in Canada and Australia to architectural practices in British Columbia; from Canadian influences on Australia's economic development to issues of identity politics in each nation's literature. In addition, the collection represents major research in the areas of globalization, migration, pluralism, and ethnic relations, with a strongly, though not exclusively, comparative orientation. This work is a co-publication with the International Council for Canadian Studies.
