Tracey Moffatt is arguably Australia's most successful artist. She has exhibited in galleries and museums around the world and is the recipient of the International Center of Photography's 2007 Infinity Award for Art. My Horizon is the first book on this esteemed artist in ten years. With all new work, including large-scale photography and film, this publication situates Moffatt's work in the international arena as an artist who consistently takes the tempo of our times. Moffatt has created highly stylised narratives and montage to explore a range of themes, including the complexities of interpersonal relationships, the curiousness of popular culture, and her own deeply felt childhood memories and fantasies. My Horizon will present a compendium of texts that reflect on the artist's highly political and personal fictions, allowing readers to ponder what might be over the horizon. Contributing authors include Germano Celant, Adrian Martin, Moira Roth, Susan Bright, Djon Mundine, Alexis Wright, and Romaine Moreton.

Experimental film and ethnographic film have long been considered separate, autonomous practices on the margins of mainstream cinema. By exploring the interplay between the two forms, Catherine Russell throws new light on both the avant-garde and visual anthropology. Russell provides detailed analyses of more than thirty-five films and videos from the 1890s to the 1990s and discusses a wide range of film and videomakers, including Georges M Elis, Maya Deren, Peter Kubelka, Ray Birdwhistell, Jean Rouch, Su Friedrich, Bill Viola, Kidlat Tahimik, Margaret Mead, Tracey Moffatt, and Chantal Akerman. Combining cultural critique with aesthetic analysis, she explores the dynamics of historical interruption, recovery, and re-evaluation. As disciplinary boundaries dissolve, Russell contends, ethnography is a means of renewing the avant-gardism of "experimental" film, of mobilising its play with language and form for historical ends. "Ethnography" likewise becomes an expansive term in which culture is represented from many different fragmented perspectives.Experimental Ethnography will appeal to visual anthropologists, as well as film scholars interested in experimental and documentary practices.

George Gittoes defies categorisation as his life defies belief. One thing is certain: Gittoes is the greatest Australian hero working today and his epic story must be told. Equal parts artist and warrior, George is world-famous for waging war on war with art, circus, photography and film. "Soldiers die for flags. For me it is art," he says. George has been shot, stabbed, bombed, beaten, tortured, drowned and jailed. He has worked with Andy Warhol, dined with Fidel Castro, plotted with Julian Assange, been feted by Mandela, blessed by Mother Theresa, sneezed on by the Dalai Lama. Blood Mystic begins with George flying back to Jalalabad carrying a letter from the Taliban threatening to chop off his head and show the decapitation on live TV. George's mission is to film with street kids in the most dangerous city on earth - the Ghostbuster street exorcists, the Snow Monkey ice cream boys, the urchin girls and kuchi kids, the child gangsters with razor blades under their lips. As the danger grows, George reflects deeply on a life less ordinary - his boyhood being groomed as a gangster, his escape to New York, the Yellow House art revolutions, crazy brave adventures in outback Australia, ghetto America, jungle Nicaragua, war-torn Cambodia, badlands Baghdad, hollow Bosnia... and beyond. This is a specially formatted fixed layout ebook that retains the look and feel of the print book.

The countryside has always held appeal for those trapped in the urban jungle, as it can be difficult for artful minds to isolate themselves from the 24/7 stimuli that cities bring. With a greater appetite for 'authentic' experiences, working practices and creative inspiration, metropolitan talents are setting up studios far from the madding crowd. Combining a more relaxed lifestyle, budding entrepreneurship and social media, a new generation of young creatives is redefining 'country living'. Creative Living Country celebrates this new breed of artists and creatives - from photographers to textile designers, from ceramicists to musicians - who have found a way to make their homes, work and lifestyle a seamless whole away from the city lights. Looking at 25 houses across the UK, Chloe Grimshaw and Luke White provide a glimpse into truly original homes that could only have been inspired by country life. From the East Anglian fens to the Cornish coast, from the hills of the Lake District to the moors of Scotland, the unique landscapes that make up the British experience take on new meaning in the hands of these creative pioneers and provide inspiration for all of us, no matter where we live.

Maddy, an old lady now, arrives home one day to find a peculiar boy waiting for her. Over tea, she tells him the story of her life long ago, when she wished for her days to be as romantic and mysterious as a fairy tale. It was then that she fell painfully in love with a free spirit named Feather, who put aside his wild ways to live with her in a little cottage, conceived with her a child never to be born, and disappeared -- leaving an inconsolable Maddy to follow after him on a fantastical journey across the sea. In a beautifully crafted tale, Sonya Hartnett masterfully explores the mysteries of the heart, the sustaining power of memory, and the ultimate consolation that comes to souls who live fully and fearlessly.
