The murder of her companion and the torching of their cabin sends Sally into hiding—from the police, who believe she's a suspect . . . and from the killer, who wants her dead. Desperate and alone in the woods, Sally has nowhere to run and nowhere to turn—except to her ex-husband, former NYPD detective-turned-private investigator Pete Montgomery, and their daughter Devon, who inherited her father's investigative instincts. Devon's search for the truth takes her dangerously close to the powerful Pierson clan and its enigmatic heir apparent, Blake Pierson. But with Olympic show-jumping gold at stake and his family's empire threatened, whose side is Blake on? Time is rapidly running out for Devon. This is true story of the second raid on Schweinfurt, Germany by the Eighth Air Force 1st and 3rd Bombardment Divisions on 14 October 1943. On this day, the Eighth Air Force lost air superiority to the German Luftwaffe in a continuous air battle that lasted over three hours. Many refer to it as the greatest one-day air battle of World War II. Wrong Place, Wrong Time is a study of the 1st Bombardment Division and specifically the 305th Bomb Group on that fateful day. Record numbers of German fighters swarmed over the unescorted B-17s and their crews. Compelling new evidence never before published indicates that mistakes and poor leadership by several air commanders within the 1st Division caused unnecessary losses for a number of bombers and their crews. This, together with major new revelations by crew members of the 305th who flew the mission, shed light on why the 1st Division lost 45 out of 60 B-17s that day. Information for this book comes from the National Archives, the US Air Force Historical Research Center, overseas sources, and 53 surviving 305th crew members who flew this mission. George C. Kuhl was a pilot in the 305th Bomb Group during World War II. He lives in Augusta, Georgia.

Will Jenny take the risk or will she do what she's always done--play it safe and wait for the right time?

Rafferty’s Rule 19: When you can’t tell the bad guys from the good guys, it’s time to get the hell out. It hurts to admit it, but Toby Wells played Rafferty like a bar-room fiddle, and Luis Ortega is dead. And while the cops know Rafferty didn’t pull the trigger, that cold comfort won’t stop him from looking for the sonofabitch who did. Only problem is, he’s a little occupied right now trying to get the neighborhood vandals to lay off Thorney, Honeybutt’s recalcitrant great-uncle. Plus, Ortega’s past offers no clues as to why someone wanted him dead, and besides, Wells is nowhere to be found. Just when Rafferty thinks he’s getting somewhere, the paint bombs on Thorney’s porch escalate to rifle shots. It’d all make more sense if Rafferty could just work out who’s behind the gun: Wells or someone else? Now he’s got to keep Thorney alive, and find the shooter, too. Because whoever they are, they’re still out there, still trigger-happy, and don’t show any signs of stopping their murderous vendetta. If you’re a fan of Spenser, Mike Hammer or Matt Scudder, then this hardboiled pulp thriller, from Shamus Award Winner W. Glenn Duncan, will keep you reading late into the dark night. “I have all of the Rafferty titles in my collection. I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff over the years, but the Rafferty books are a mainstay. I think they’re terrific!”—Paul Bishop WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME is a hardboiled P.I. mystery in the tradition of the best pulp thrillers. Rafferty’s a Dallas P.I. and an ex-cop who spent enough time on the streets to understand how things work. And when they don’t, Rafferty’s the guy you’ll want on your side. He may quote Latin occasionally, smoke too much and be a cynical sonofabitch, but when it all hits the fan and you need someone you can trust, you’ll be glad you called Rafferty. Originally published by Ballantine, this 30th Anniversary release of WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME marks the first time that W. Glenn Duncan’s work has been available in digital format. We doubt that Rafferty would quietly accept the ongoing march of technology that provides this opportunity, but even a grizzled P.I. has to grow up sometime. This hardboiled PI series will continue with the first new Rafferty story in nearly three decades. FALSE GODS, written by W. Glenn Duncan Jr. (son of the original author) sees Rafferty looking for a missing girl, up to his ass in religious fundamentalists and needing all the help he can get from his old pals Cowboy and Mimi—and a few new ones—to make sure he gets out alive. Join the Rafferty Readers’ Group at RaffertyPI.com to get the latest news on the upcoming release of FALSE GODS “Twenty years have passed since the first of W. Glenn Duncan's Rafferty novels hit the shelves. Damn, has it been that long? Just a week ago I picked up one of his novels and couldn't help but notice how well the books have stood the test of time. Every novel's plot is centered around an issue we still deal with today. Duncan truely captured the pure essence of the definitive smart-ass private eye in his character Rafferty. Take part Sam Spade with a little Mike Hammer, mix in some Spenser and you have an awesome character”—Cliff Fausset, 2007 p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; text-indent: 18.0px; font: 14.0px Optima} p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; text-indent: 18.0px; font: 14.0px Optima; min-height: 17.0px} span.s1 {font: 9.0px Optima}

Wrong Place is the second gripping crime novel in the DC Maggie Neville series from Michelle Davies, following her critically acclaimed debut Gone Astray. Two women lie hospital beds, both subjects of police investigations. One, a vulnerable old lady, has been assaulted in her own home. Suspected to be the fifth victim of a young couple targeting pensioners, her injuries indicate an escalation in violence from the perpetrators. The second, a wife, has been attacked by her own husband, who subsequently fails in his own attempt to kill himself. Whilst there are no obvious parallels between the victims, DC Maggie Neville, the Family Liaison Officer involved in both cases, begins to question what happened. Is it simply a case of both being in the wrong place at the wrong time or is something far more sinister at play?
