Although not in every line and perhaps not on every page, the message of Christ overshadows the entire Old Testament. Finding Christ is the key that both unlocks and locks in the message of the whole Word of God. Jesus Christ is God's final, perfect, incomparable Word. Beginning at Moses seeks to follow the example of Christ Himself Who, "beginning at Moses and all the prophets," expounded from all the Scripture the things concerning Himself.

A New York Times Bestseller! In Finding Jesus in the Old Testament, David Limbaugh unlocks the mysteries of the Old Testament and reveals hints of Jesus Christ's arrival through all thirty-nine Old Testament books. The key to the secrets of the Old Testament, Limbaugh argues, is the crucial New Testament encounter between the risen Jesus and two travelers on the road to Emmaus. With that key, and with Limbaugh as a deft guide, readers of Finding Jesus in the Old Testament will come to a startling new understanding of the Old Testament as a clear and powerful heralding of Jesus Christ's arrival. Limbaugh takes readers on a revealing journey from Genesis through Malachi, demonstrating that a consistent message courses through every one of the Old Testament's thirty-nine books: the power, wonder, and everlasting love of Jesus Christ. Previously published under the title The Emmaus Code.

Discover Jesus Throughout the Old Testament! The son trudges uphill, bearing wood for his own sacrifice; his father has decided to give him up to death. What biblical event does this bring to mind? Is it Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22, or Christ’s passion in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John? The kinship between these two stories is deeper than mere coincidence. Christ is present in the story of Abraham and Isaac. In fact, he is present on every page of the Old Testament. Christians seem to have forgotten that the Old Testament has everything to do with Jesus Christ. In Jesus on Every Page, David Murray guides the reader down his own Road to Emmaus, describing how the Scriptures were opened to him, revealing Jesus from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22. Dr. Murray’s ten simple ways to seek and find Christ in the Old Testament unveil the face of Christ in the creation, the law, the psalms, the prophets, and the proverbs. Recognizing Jesus in the full breadth of Scripture is important for every Christian. Whether you are preaching Jesus through Old Testament readings or just beginning to discover the reality of Christ in the Old Testament, Jesus on Every Page provides an accessible guide to the increasingly popular subject of Jesus in the Old Testament books. Have your own Road to Emmaus experience and know the Old Testament for what it truly is: full of Jesus.

Christ: The Angel of God.Christ: The Battle BowChrist: A Goodly CedarSince the time that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour in 1976, I have heard it said that He was the focus of the Bible. I have never doubted that. I have heard it said that Jesus Christ was the subject of each book of the Bible, including the Old Testament. I struggled with that, not because it was untrue, but because no one in my theological circle submitted proof that it was true. This book is proof that Jesus Christ can be found in each book of the Old Testament. Therefore, Jesus Christ is available to become the subject of any book of the Bible if we take this approach to the Scriptures. What is the benefit of this approach? The Lord Jesus Christ becomes more precious to our souls as we encounter the varied facets of His Person. That should be enough, but now we can gain new insights into the Godhead and the inspired Word of God. This approach provides a fresh reason to study the Bible and a new direction in sermon and lesson preparation. Personal and family devotions are given new life in Christ. A fresh breeze blows across the pages of the Old Testament. The book is arranged for ease of use. Section One contains all the designations of Christ arranged alphabetically. Section Two contains all the physical aspects of Christ arranged alphabetically. Section Three is arranged by the mentions of Christ in each book of the Old Testament.Do you have your Bible? Do you have this book? Begin your journey seeking for ..".the unsearchable riches of Christ.

Contemporary! Traditional! Divisive words - particularly when referring to methods of worship. Unhappily, the whole controversy about worship styles has degenerated into arguments based on personal preference. Given the intensity of this worship controversy that is increasingly dividing professedly Bible-believing churches into distinctive camps, I have felt inclined to make my contribution to the concern. I am convinced that the Bible does establish clear guidelines for both what we are to believe (issues of faith) and what we are to practice (issues of obedience) and that this direction includes matters of worship. If there is any overriding biblical truth that must circumscribe every worship practice, it is that worship is all about God and not about us. There is little hope of worshipping in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord if we do not start with the Bible and stress what it stresses. The Beauty of Holiness is a guide to what the Bible says about the object, manner, and the heart of worship. We must never shy away from what the Bible says regardless of how out of sync with culture it seems to be. God’s Word not culture - whether modern or medieval - defines the way of worship.

How do you read the Old Testament (and the New)? Are you looking earnestly for the culmination of all things in Christ, or are you using the Bible randomly as a book and guide for living "the good life now"? At the end of the Gospel of Luke, Christ Himself said to some puzzling followers: "O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?" (Luke 24:25-26). What follows then is the greatest Bible study ever to have happened to those who were listening to Jesus: "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." (v.27). This is a wonderful book on how to look for Christ especially in the Old Testament. Read it and then pass it along. This book has been originally published in 1909 (third edition), and is available in the public domain. In this edition, we updated the language, the punctuation, and biblical references.

Believing the fundamental Christian claim that the purpose of the Bible is to present the Savior, Geisler focuses on Christ as the unity and unfolding message of the whole of Scripture. Christ is the tie between the Testaments, the content of the canon, and the unifying theme within each book of the Bible. This book is basic to both Bible study and preaching and serves as an excellent guide to the Bible's central theme. It encompasses far more than a study of types and the Old Testament prophecies. Each chapter takes seriously the affirmation of Jesus: ÒEverything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilledÓ (Luke 24:44). Related to Geisler's central thrust - that Christ is the clue to the whole Bible - is the clear assertion concerning the inspiration of Scripture and the deity of Christ. Chapter topics include: (1) Christ Is the Key to the Bible; (2) Christ in the Old Testament; (3) Christ in Both Testaments; (4) Christ in Every Section of the Bible; (5) Christ in Each Book of the Bible; (6) The Word of God; Personal and Propositional. Also included are a bibliography, subject index, and Scripture index.

This is often the question of skeptics, scoffers, and even troubled souls. Trials and tribulations of one sort or another crowd our personal lives, while corruption, conflict, and catastrophe command the world scene. Indeed, where is God in all of this? Asking the question is fair enough. Answering demands caution. God’s Unfailing Purpose: The Message Of Daniel is a cautious and biblical answer to that question. This book focuses on the heavenly throne from which God rules according to His perfect will and unchangeable, unfailing purpose. God is in absolute control of all things: the big issues of the world, as well as the seemingly bigger issues of our lives. Daniel’s view of history and prophecy shows that God’s kingdom is coming and that God’s will is being done on earth as certainly as it is in heaven. Daniel’s message is simply, “Not to worry–everything is under control.”

This new book by a trusted Old Testament scholar directs the student and pastor to an aspect of biblical truth often lacking in contemporary preaching and teaching: God's unsurpassed majesty and greatness. Kaiser suggests that a key way to recapture this important doctrine in the pulpit is through the preaching of the Old Testament--itself an oft-neglected or mishandled discipline. By expositing ten great Old Testament passages that are rife with evidence of God's majesty, he shows how today's preacher might address this deficiency. He also shows how such exercises as word studies and historical/archaeological studies can be used to help pastors make the Old Testament relevant to their congregations.

Arguing for the need both to preach Christ in every sermon and to preach regularly from the Old Testament, Sidney Greidanus develops a christocentric method that will help preachers do both simultaneously. Greidanus challenges Old Testament scholars to broaden their focus and to understand the Old Testament not only in its own historical context but also in the context of the New Testament. Suggesting specific steps and providing concrete examples, this volume provides a practical guide for preaching Christ from the Old Testament.

Warning: This is an independent addition to The Emmaus Code, meant to enhance your experience of the original book. If you have not yet bought the original copy, make sure to purchase it before buying this unofficial summary from aBookaDay. INTRODUCTION David Limbaugh begins his introduction with the story of the trial of the Apostle Paul, a former Jew and ardent persecutor of Christians, who converted to Christianity. After his conversion, Paul ministered to Gentiles but also had an enduring love for Jews, and therefore decides to visit Jerusalem at the end of his third missionary journey, where he is accused of blasphemy and defiling the Jewish Temple by bringing Gentiles into it. Beaten, arrested by Roman authorities, and standing on trial before Governor Felix in Caesarea, Paul gives a speech that proclaims his faith in Christ and also declares common ground with the Jews. Paul goes on to affirm his belief in the Old Testament Scripture of the Jews and insists that according to "the Way" (Christianity), he still worships the God of the Jewish fathers, and is indeed preaching the truth of "the Law" and the Prophets (whom his accusers accept)- that there will be a resurrection from the dead of both the just and unjust. Two years later, in prison, an investigation gives Paul the opportunity to again stress his innocence by decidedly affirming the Jewish religion, saying "nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come to pass...that the Christ must suffer and that by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles" (Acts 26:22). Paul is sent to a prison in Rome where he continues to evangelize visitors, writes his Prison Epistles (Ephesians, Colossians, Philemon, and Philippians), and according to Christian tradition, died as a martyr. It is the goal of the author with this book, as he explains after the story of Paul, to demonstrate that with the benefit of later revelations, we can see truths in Scriptures that weren't evident to people in Old Testament times. The author explains how he had first studied the Bible and struggled with understanding the big picture, especially the Old Testament. Over time he took a more systematic approach to studying it, and became more comfortable with the material. He soon desired to share what he had learned and attempted to publish a primer, but failed. After his work on the Christian apologetical book, Jesus on Trial, which he found to be the most satisfying of his career, the author became excited to work on one that would help others to understand how "just as the Old Testament is foundational to the New, our basic understanding of the Old Testament is crucial to our comprehension of how Christ dominates its pages." The Emmaus Code is that book, and the author believes that "decoding the Emmaus road"- the hidden dialogue of the resurrected Christ with the two men on the road to Emmaus, is the key to understanding the entirety of Scripture.Limbaugh describes the format of The Emmaus Code and how it is written for the layperson- that he begins with a historical summary that outlines "the flow" of the Old Testament. Next, he outlines prophecy, typology, and covenants, among other evidence, that point to Jesus Christ of the New Testament. He emphasizes recurring themes that are consistent across different contexts and settings; particularly those that focus upon the people of Israel, who repeatedly disobey and sin against God, but to whom God consistently bestows blessings upon when they are obedient and faithful. The author stresses that The Emmaus Code is a primer, which like a study guide, can enhance biblical understanding; and hopes that his enthusiasm for the Bible is contagious.Available on PC, Mac, smart phone, tablet or Kindle device.
