"An addictive read. Perfect for movie star fans." –Library Journal Cheryl Crane, daughter of movie icon Lana Turner, brings her Hollywood insider expertise to a star-studded mystery series featuring celebrity realtor-turned-sleuth Nikki Harper and her screen goddess mother, Victoria Bordeaux. . . When the body of a spoiled, violent, party-boy turns up in a dumpster behind her mother's mansion, Nikki feels duty-bound to get involved. Eddie Bernard may have been the son of one of the biggest TV producers of all time, but the list of people glad to see him gone could stretch from one of end of Bel Air to the other. And the one person Nikki's sure is innocent is also the prime suspect: Jorge Delgado, her childhood friend and the son of Victoria's housekeeper. While Victoria relishes the Tinseltown scandal, Nikki is soon submerged in a secret world of celebrity drug-dealing, dangerous cults, conniving stars, and, of all things, the Food Network. But as Nikki starts to close in on the truth, can she keep Jorge from facing the final curtain. . .while keeping herself out of a killer's spotlight? "Crane clearly has fun playing with established mystery tropes and upsetting expectations. Fans of entertaining light fiction are in for a treat." --Publishers Weekly "Who knows the back doors of Hollywood better than Crane? Not only does Crane know what the rich and famous want hidden, she's got a pretty good handle on the lengths they'd go to hide it." --RT Book Reviews

The Personal undertaking for our salvation by His Sacrifice on the Cross and His personal interest in us; by coming into our lives to teach us and guide us fulfilling all the desires of our Father as He prepares us for His Eternal Priesthood. Remember Jesus came into the world to sow the Seed of Godliness into the heart of man (Both male and Female Gen. 5:2) and for those who receive Him; He brings and presents them blameless on that Day. To those who endure with Him during His trials against evil and the oppositions to His Love in this world, He will reward eternally. Look into the life of David- though he was anointed King during the time of Saul's Reign- He did not cross the line but waited till the time appointed by the Father for his Throne. Therefore all those who were on David's side who labored and endured with him; he rewarded with positions and places of honor at the time of his inauguration and reign. Let us press on to know the Lord through the Father's revelation of the Son to obtain all He has prepared for us in the times of our generations. Rp

In contrast to many studies of New Testament ethics, which treat the New Testament in general and Paul in particular, this book focuses on the person of Jesus himself. Richard Burridge maintains that imitating Jesus means following both his words -- which are very demanding ethical teachings -- and his deeds and example of being inclusive and accepting of everyone. Burridge carefully and systematically traces that combination of rigorous ethical instruction and inclusive community through the letters of Paul and the four Gospels, treating specific ethical issues pertaining to each part of Scripture. The book culminates with a chapter on apartheid as an ethical challenge to reading the New Testament; using South Africa as a contemporary case study enables Burridge to highlight and further apply his previous discussion and conclusions.

On the night of September 22, 1912, Franz Kafka wrote his story "The Judgment," which came out of him "like a regular birth." This act of creation struck him as an unmistakable sign of his literary destiny. Thereafter, the search of many of his characters for the Law, for a home, for artistic fulfillment can be understood as a figure for Kafka's own search to reproduce the ecstasy of a single night. In Lambent Traces: Franz Kafka, the preeminent American critic and translator of Franz Kafka traces the implications of Kafka's literary breakthrough. Kafka's first concern was not his responsibility to his culture but to his fate as literature, which he pursued by exploring "the limits of the human." At the same time, he kept his transcendental longings sober by noting--with incomparable irony--their virtual impossibility. At times Kafka's passion for personal transcendence as a writer entered into a torturous and witty conflict with his desire for another sort of transcendence, one driven by a modern Gnosticism. This struggle prompted him continually to scrutinize different kinds of mediation, such as confessional writing, the dream, the media, the idea of marriage, skepticism, asceticism, and the imitation of death. Lambent Traces: Franz Kafka concludes with a reconstruction and critique of the approaches to Kafka by such major critics as Adorno, Gilman, and Deleuze and Guattari..

This is the fifth volume in the major six-volume Commentary on Homer's Iliad now being prepared under the general- editorship of Professor G. S. Kirk. Volume I was published in 1985, Volume II in 1990; both were edited by Professor Kirk himself. Like its predecessors, the present volume (the first to appear from the hand of one of Professor Kirk's four collaborators) consists of four introductory essays (including discussions of similes and other features of narrative style) followed by the Commentary. The Greek text is not included. This project is the first large-scale commentary on The Iliad, for nearly one hundred years, and takes special account of language, style and thematic structure as well as of the complex social and cultural background to the work. The Commentary is an essential reference work for all students of Greek literature, and archaeologists and historians will also find that it contains matters of relevance to them.
