Jauma Plensa is one of the most important Spanish artists of our time. For twenty-five years he has exhibited internationally and created numerous public projects, including the spectacular Crown Fountain for Millennium Park, Chicago. Realized between 2000 and 2004 with the support of the Crown family, the fountain is a unique installation renown the world over. Featuring water cascading down two monumental glass-brick towers, a skin pool, and the twin water spouts, the fountain is also a video archive of the faces of one thousand Chicagoans from all segments of society, displayed in a constantly changing pageant on the fifty-foot-high LED screens. The development of the Crown Fountain is evocatively captured in words and photographs in this monograph, along with an extensive chronology of Plensa's multifaceted oeuvre.

Internationally celebrated Spanish artist Jaume Plensa has emerged as one of the most significant voices in contemporary sculpture. For over thirty years, Plensa has created a multifaceted body of work that interplays traditional materials with unconventional media on monumental and intimate scales. Deftly working in steel, cast iron, resin, glass and stone, Plensa has traversed the globe with his public works and international exhibitions including at the Reina Sofia (Spain), Yorkshire Sculpture Park (United Kingdom), and the Musee National Jeu de Paume (France). From the Crown Fountain in Chicago, a modern day agora in an urban landscape, to Echo , the monumental, yet serene portrait which greets Seattle's citizens by land and sea, Plensa's nomadic practice speaks to the capacity and beauty of humanity, celebrating the similarities of the world's seemingly divergent cultures. Published in partnership with Richard Gray Gallery, One Thought Fills Immensity takes a comprehensive look at the artist's practice since the 1980s. Illustrated in this volume are works on paper and sculpture that highlight Plensa's overlapping themes while exploring the breadth within his lifelong practice of working in both abstraction and figuration. With over 200 color plates and contributions from an international group of scholars including Clare Lilley, Yorkshire Sculpture Park; Catherine Millet, Artpress; Fumio Nanjo, Mori Art Museum; Brooke Kamin Rappaport, Madison Square Park Conservancy; and Jeremy Strick, Nasher Sculpture Center, One Thought Fills Immensity is the essential publication for collectors and critics alike.

The exhibition catalogue devoted to the artist Jaume Plensa (Barcelona,1955) undertakes a journey through the work of one of the internationally best known Catalan sculptors. 0With a selection of artworks ranging from the eighties to the present day, the exhibition centres on the dialogue that takes place between his representations of the human figure and his abstract works. This tension is the thread running through his body of work, a corpus that highlights the force of opposing pairs such as lightweight/compact, light/dark, silence/sound, spirit/matter and life/death. His works address the very condition of being: our physical and spiritual essence, our consciousness of ourselves and our past, our moral codes and dogmas, and our relationship with nature. 0The catalogue includes a photo essay of the exhibition in the galleries of the MACBA, a text by the artist, and articles by the exhibition curator and director of the MACBA Ferran Barenblit, British art curator Clare Lilley, writer and art critic Catherine Millet, and contemporary composer Hector Parra.00Exhibition: MACBA, Barcelona, Spain (01.12.2018-22.04.2019) / Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Moscow, Russia (08.07-22.09.2019).
