Excerpt from Mining and Scientific Press, Vol. 121: July to December, 1920 The silver producer could surely afford to pay the mint charge, if any, and the express charges, and instead of. Sending out checks send real newly minted silver coin. People would soon realize that there was such a thing as a silver industry if they saw the real stuff come pouring into the channels of trade, piling up in the safes, like the old days of California. A new interest would be taken in silver mining by, the very sight of the bright new money going from hand to hand; a greater tendency to save would be instilled by the sight and ownership of coin as against paper or checks. Many a man would think twice before he counted out and parted with ten thousand new bright silver dollars in ten bags of a thous and each. The bulk appeal of ten bags of bright coin is much greater than that of a cheque with Ten Thousand Dollars written upon it. Taken from articles that originally appeared between 1862 & 1920 in the Mining & Scientific Press , this information details the various types of rock drilling equipment used to drill the tunnels, mines, roads and rocks that stood in the way of progress. It also reviews the technical information that identified why some drills were preferred over others, and detailed information on operations and working details of the equipment.

Excerpt from Mining and Scientific Press, Vol. 104: January to July, 1912 Turning to the United States production, of which 3! Fuller analysis appears upon another page, we find that California has, during the year just past, taken first place. Sodong held by Colorado. Nevada remains in the third place, pressing Colorado closely, and Alaska has fourth place, which it assumed in 1910, dropping from second in 1909. It is a curious fact that the four leading producers range from twenty to sixteen millions of dollars each, while the next nearest State, South Dakota, produwd only about seven and a half millions. Utah, Montana, Arizona, and Idaho complete the list. Of the States which produced over one million dollars each. Excerpt from Mining and Scientific Press, Vol. 124: January to March, 1922 In 1890 mining and metallurgical processes were most imperfect, the appliances for handling material were crude and inadequate. For such reasons the output of a man per day was exceedingly limited and it required ores containing copper, which even then were becoming exhausted, -to produce the metal on a profitable basis. In order to meet the increasing demand for copper, methods had to be devised to treat leaner ores in the existing mines and to make new mines out of the great outcrops of cop per-bearing material that had long been known in the State, but which did not contain material that could be worked at a profit at that time.
