If you like cats as I do, you have perhaps thought about the possibility that they have a mysterious power of communicating with humans simply by staring into your eyes. Every cat has their own personality, and some seem to read your mind, even to the point of being creepy. I never thought my cats were creepy, but they definitely expose the window to their soul when they stare into my eyes. I suppose all they really want is to be fed and petted, but sometimes it seems like it’s a lot more than just that. Cat lovers know exactly what I’m referring to. So the next time you have your cat on your lap, look deep into their eyes, and I think you will see way beyond just their eyes. Just like Jupiter.

The cat and the dog have been occupying a prominent place in our homes and at our sides for many years. It is normal to come across them at any time in our literature or when visiting a website. Sometimes they occupy the central place and there are many books that have been devoted to them, sometimes by writers less well known than their companions... Other times, they are just making the scene more lively, more truthful, because without them, where would be the soul of our homes? Through these quotes, you will first travel in time, across regions religions and cultures: the Bible, Einstein, Mahomet, Queen Elisabeth II, Shakespeare, Agatha Christie and many others. This little journey into the heart of wisdom or in the company of famous personalities will give you all the delights that our fourlegged friends deserve. And at the heart of all these treasures, I'm sure you will find valuable thoughts to illuminate your every day. His life in a familly of Egyptian Maus and King Charles Spaniels made him sensitive to the deepness of the thoughts of our favorite 4-legs. Didier HALLEPEE shares with us the many quotations he met in the over ten thousand books he could read."

This open access book analyzes the evidence linking Toxoplasma gondii to the increasing incidence of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in the United States. Initially establishing that infectious agents are regularly transmitted from animals to humans, lead to human disease, and that infectious agents can cause psychosis, it then examines the protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii in detail. Infecting 40 million Americans, Toxoplasma gondii is known to cause congenital infections, eye disease, and encephalitis for individuals who are immunosuppressed. It has also been shown to change the behavior of nonhuman mammals, as well as to alter some personality traits in humans. After discussing the clinical evidence linking Toxoplasma gondii to human psychosis, the book elucidates the epidemiological evidence further supporting this linkage; including the proportional increase in incidence of human psychosis as cats transitioned to domestication over 800 years. Finally, the book assesses the magnitude of the problem and suggests solutions. Parasites, Pussycats and Psychosis: The Unknown Dangers of Human Toxoplasmosis provides a comprehensive review of the evidence linking human psychosis in the United States to infections of Toxoplasma gondii. It will be of interest to infectious disease specialists, general practitioners, scientists, historians, and cat-lovers.

“Fourteen writers take on perhaps the most important cultural issue of our time: figure out what we’re talking about when we’re talking about cat videos.” —New York magazine Are cat videos art? This essay collection, funded by a Kickstarter campaign, addresses not just our fascination with cat videos, but also how we decide what is good or bad art, or art at all; how taste develops, how that can change, and why we love or hate something. It’s about people and technology and just what it is about cats that makes them the internet’s cutest despots. This lively essay collection is intended as “an earnest attempt to uncover more about human nature—especially in today’s internet-driven world.” —Cool Hunting Contributors include: Sasha Archibald, Will Braden, Stephen Burt, Maria Bustillos, David Carr, Matthea Harvey, Alexis Madrigal, Joanne McNeil, Ander Monson, Kevin Nguyen, Elena Passarello, Jillian Steinhauer, Sarah Schultz, and Carl Wilson. “This clever collection is highly recommended for people who watch cat videos, which is apparently nearly everyone.” —Publishers Weekly “A delight.” —Chicago Tribune

Trevor's fiancee, Janet, was killed one day before they were to be wed. She died at the hands of a wrong way driver. Fast forward 10 years. Trevor has gone on with his life but never got over his loss. Today he took a rare day off and visited an antique store where he purchased an old weathered 1950's style screen door. He was told it came from a farmhouse located in the mid-west. As he hung it on his wall among the other antiques that decorated his bedroom, he noticed something peculiar...there was a key still dangling from the lock. When he turned it, he was suddenly transported back to the year, one week before the accident occurred. Dumbfounded, Trevor wondered how this was possible? Further, could Janet still be alive? If so, where is she? Will he be able to find her? More importantly, can he alter the events that led up to her death and thereby change the future? Has fate thrown him a second chance?

The Poems of T. S. Eliot is the authoritative edition of one of our greatest poets, scrupulously edited by Christopher Ricks and Jim McCue. It provides, for the first time, a fully scrutinized text of Eliot's poems, carefully restoring accidental omissions and removing textual errors that have crept in over the full century in which Eliot has been so frequently printed and reprinted. The edition also presents many poems from Eliot's youth which were published only decades later, as well as others that saw only private circulation in his lifetime, of which dozens are collected for the first time. To accompany Eliot's poems, Christopher Ricks and Jim McCue have provided a commentary that illuminates the creative activity that came to constitute each poem, calling upon drafts, correspondence and other original materials to provide a vivid account of the poet's working processes, his reading, his influences and his revisions. The first volume respects Eliot's decisions by opening with his Collected Poems 1909-1962 in the form in which he issued it, shortly before his death fifty years ago. There follow in this first volume the uncollected poems from his youth that he had chosen to publish, along with such other poems as could be considered suitable for publication. The second volume opens with the two books of poems of other kinds that he issued, Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats and his translation of Perse's Anabase, moving then to verses privately circulated as informal or improper or clubmanlike. Each of these sections is accompanied by its respective commentary, and then, pertaining to the entire edition, there is a comprehensive textual history recording variants both manuscript and published. The Poems of T. S. Eliot is a work of enlightening scholarship that will delight and inform all those who read Eliot for pleasure, as well as all those who read with pleasure and for study. Here are a new accuracy and an unparalleled insight into the marvels and landmarks from The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock and The Waste Land through to Four Quartets

And as if that were not enough, her fiancé of two months died suddenly of a heart attack just as the two were beginning a new life together. This book is a continuation of an effort began in 2015 by a handful of individuals with an interest in the history of the German settlements at Cat Spring and Millheim in Austin County, Texas. Three of the early literary works by Millheim settlers have been republished — Experiences and Observations and A History of Austin County by William Andreas Trenckmann, and A Boy’s Civil War Story by Charles Nagel. Obscure books, newspaper and periodical articles, literary novels and plays written about the area by former residents a century or so ago have been identified. An inventory of all such documents and their current status as to public availability has been developed. This book presents a brief history of the extended Cat Spring–Millheim community in western Austin County, along with reproductions of several articles written by early area pioneers such as Robert Kleberg, Rosa von Roeder Kleberg, Caroline Ernst von Hineuber, Adalbert Regenbrecht and Ottilie Fuchs Goeth. We provide brief biographies of many of the early settlers including Elemenech Swearingen, Ludwig von Roeder, Robert Kleberg, Carl Amsler, Friedrich Engelking, Andreas Trenckmann, Robert Kloss, Gustav Maetze, Dr. Herman Nagel, Adalbert Regenbrecht, Rev. Arnost Bergmann and Louis Constant. Also summarized are the significant literary works created by early settlers in the area, including William Andreas Trenckmann, Charles Nagel, Johannes Christlieb Nathanael Romberg and Adolph Fuchs. Several of these long out-of-print works are reproduced herein.
