Until his twin sister decided she needed to get married...back home...and she'd invited their parents. Wasn't this going to be a just a fabulous weekend? Since leaving the Marines, Kilby Adams rarely ever left his farm and now here he was in Georgia, as best man at his stepbrother's wedding. Mississippi University for Women was a pioneer in the Southeast Region as well as the State of Mississippi in encouraging, promoting, and sponsoring intercollegiate athletics for women. The programs were always of the highest quality and conducted with integrity. The students and coaches involved were dedicated and committed to their respective sport. Loss of the Physical Education Assembly Building, destroyed by a tornado in 2002, and the subsequent decision (2003) by the university to cease participation in intercollegiate athletics prompted the writing of this book. Physical resources and historical records had been destroyed. Concern that the knowledge of this program would be lost along with its signifi cance to the university alumnae, and womens sport history, challenged five retired Health and Kinesiology faculty members to write this book. They knew that their collective knowledge and experiences were invaluable in recording a century of athletic competition at the W. These women promoted the educational model of sport believing that the opportunity to participate in sports brings both value and pleasure to the quality of life.

Even down to its well-set Georgian townhouses, Edinburgh is a hymn to measure and harmony. But on Scotland Street, domestic accord is in short supply. Matthew and Elspeth welcome three new arrivals, though the joys of multiple parenthood are somewhat lost due to sleep deprivation and the difficulties of telling their brood apart. Angus and Domenica are to marry, and Domenica has ambitious and disturbing plans for their living arrangements, especially when it appears that Antonia, in Italy recuperating from Stendhal Syndrome, may not return. And little Bertie, feeling blue, puts himself up for adoption on eBay. Can Edinburgh's most deliciously dysfunctional residents forsake discord and learn to dance to the same happy tune?

Wedding singer Georgia Ray Miller dreams of becoming a "blues goddess," but her own doubts keep getting in the way. Besides, she's got enough to keep her occupied, living in a huge haunted (former) brothel with her hippie grandmother, her surrogate boyfriend, Jack, and the Big Easy's most infamous drag queen. Still, she can't help being mesmerized by stories from an old blues pianist. When she discovers a diary from a long-lost aunt, she finds out the blues is truly in her blood. But before Georgia gathers the courage to sing the Delta blues, she must first figure out the affairs of her heart. Does she remain in the comfortable relationship she's found with Jack? Does she run off with the love of her life, a man from her past with a roguish reputation? Or strike out on her own? She thinks she has it all figured out, but the ghosts of the past have a way of intruding on the present….

Gordon Ryder has the blues. It’s 1969, the worst year of Gordon’s life so far. He has no friends, and when his father deserts the family, Gordon is left alone with his overly controlling mother. Gordon’s only solace is running, which leads to an encounter in the forest preserve that could change everything. Myra Roth, a hippie leader at Gordon’s high school, invites him into her inner circle. Gordon must decide: should he enter Myra’s world of war protests, drugs, and free love? Gordon Ryder’s Blues tells the story of a teenager coming of age in the turbulent Sixties, a story written to entertain young adults curious about that time, baby boomers eager to reminisce, and everyone in between.
