A step-by-step guide to building microservices using Python and Docker, along with managing and orchestrating them with Kubernetes Key Features Learn to use Docker containers to create, operate, and deploy your microservices Create workflows to manage independent deployments on coordinating services using CI and GitOps through GitHub, Travis CI, and Flux Develop a REST microservice in Python using the Flask framework and Postgres database Book Description Microservices architecture helps create complex systems with multiple, interconnected services that can be maintained by independent teams working in parallel. This book guides you on how to develop these complex systems with the help of containers. You’ll start by learning to design an efficient strategy for migrating a legacy monolithic system to microservices. You’ll build a RESTful microservice with Python and learn how to encapsulate the code for the services into a container using Docker. While developing the services, you’ll understand how to use tools such as GitHub and Travis CI to ensure continuous delivery (CD) and continuous integration (CI). As the systems become complex and grow in size, you’ll be introduced to Kubernetes and explore how to orchestrate a system of containers while managing multiple services. Next, you’ll configure Kubernetes clusters for production-ready environments and secure them for reliable deployments. In the concluding chapters, you’ll learn how to detect and debug critical problems with the help of logs and metrics. Finally, you’ll discover a variety of strategies for working with multiple teams dealing with different microservices for effective collaboration. By the end of this book, you’ll be able to build production-grade microservices as well as orchestrate a complex system of services using containers. What you will learn Discover how to design, test, and operate scalable microservices Coordinate and deploy different services using Kubernetes Use Docker to construct scalable and manageable applications with microservices Understand how to monitor a complete system to ensure early detection of problems Become well versed with migrating from an existing monolithic system to a microservice one Use load balancing to ensure seamless operation between the old monolith and the new service Who this book is for This book is for developers, engineers, or software architects who are trying to move away from traditional approaches for building complex multi-service systems by adopting microservices and containers. Although familiarity with Python programming is assumed, no prior knowledge of Docker is required.

Organizations big and small have started to realize just how crucial system and application reliability is to their business. They’ve also learned just how difficult it is to maintain that reliability while iterating at the speed demanded by the marketplace. Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is a proven approach to this challenge. SRE is a large and rich topic to discuss. Google led the way with Site Reliability Engineering, the wildly successful O’Reilly book that described Google’s creation of the discipline and the implementation that’s allowed them to operate at a planetary scale. Inspired by that earlier work, this book explores a very different part of the SRE space. The more than two dozen chapters in Seeking SRE bring you into some of the important conversations going on in the SRE world right now. Listen as engineers and other leaders in the field discuss: Different ways of implementing SRE and SRE principles in a wide variety of settings How SRE relates to other approaches such as DevOps Specialties on the cutting edge that will soon be commonplace in SRE Best practices and technologies that make practicing SRE easier The important but rarely explored human side of SRE David N. Blank-Edelman is the book’s curator and editor.

This book delves into various solution paradigms such as artificial neural network, support vector machine, wavelet transforms, evolutionary computing, swarm intelligence. During the last decade, novel solution technologies based on human and species intelligence have gained immense popularity due to their flexible and unconventional approach. New analytical tools are also being developed to handle big data processing and smart decision making. The idea behind compiling this work is to familiarize researchers, academicians, industry persons and students with various applications of intelligent techniques for producing sustainable, cost-effective and robust solutions of frequently encountered complex, real-world problems in engineering and science disciplines. The practical problems in smart grids, communication, waste management, elimination of harmful elements from nature, etc., are identified, and smart and optimal solutions are proposed.

This report investigates the actions taken by the Government to improve PSHE following Ofsted's finding in 2013 that the subject required improvement in 40% of schools. It concludes that the Government's current strategy for improving PSHE is weak, with a mismatch between the priority that ministers claim they give PSHE and the steps that have been taken to improve the quality of teaching in the subject. There is an overwhelming demand for statutory sex and relationships education - from teachers, parents and young people themselves. Statutory status will help ensure investment in training for teachers to improve its provision. SRE forms an important part of any school's efforts to safeguard young people from abuse, and is particularly needed to protect the most vulnerable children. PSHE builds character and resilience, and will help young people to live happy and healthy lives. The Committee recommends: all schools should be required to run a regular consultation with parents on the school's SRE provision; the parental right to withdraw their child from elements of SRE should be retained; the Government should formally endorse and issue the SRE guidance produced by Brook, the Sex Education Forum and the PSHE Association and promote this more actively to schools and governors; the funding of continuous professional development for PSHE teachers and school nurses should be reinstated; Ofsted should resume its regular subject surveys of PSHE provision; SRE should be renamed Relationships and Sex Education - RSE - to emphasise the relationships element of the subject.

Aion is one of a number of major works that Jung wrote during his seventies that were concerned with the relations between psychology, alchemy and religion. He is particularly concerned in this volume with the rise of Christianity and with the figure of Christ. He explores how Christianity came about when it did, the importance of the figure of Christ and the identification of the figure of Christ with the archetype of the Self. A matter of special importance to Jung in his seventies - the problem of opposites, particularly good and evil - is further discussed and the importance of the symbolism of the fish, which recurs as a symbol of both Christ and the devil, is examined. As a study of the archetype of the self, Aion complements The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious, which is also published in paperback.
