Principle-Centered Parenting is not about controlling, manipulating or changing childrens external behavior. It is about starting healthy spiritually based thinking that changes behavior from the inside out. Focusing on controlling or changing external behaviors is like trying to change a picture projected on a screen without changing the film in the camera. As children learn to love good, their behavior reflects their thinking and bad behavior dissolves like darkness when we turn on a light. We cannot teach a drowning person how to swim. Similarly, we cannot teach healthy behavior to an out of control child. It is necessary to stop destructive or harmful behavior with temporary measures, but long-term learning takes time, repetition, creative insight and willingness to listen to our inner spiritual parenting guide. Teaching behavior principles is similar to teaching math or reading. It takes loving patience and faith in a childs ability to learn. When children understand correct principles, their mistakes disappear. Parables like the Wheat and Tares explain the spiritual law of growth and development. The scriptures contain powerful stories that make spiritual laws practical and effective in parenting and daily family life. Principle-Centered Parenting is a guide for parents to tap into their own and their childrens infinite spiritual resources.

It's hard enough to train kids to behave, but good behavior isn't what Jesus calls for in the Bible. He wants hearts and souls that are shaped in vibrant faith and love toward God and others. How can parents cultivate this in their children? In this book Dr. Michelle Anthony shares practical examples and biblical insight on the spiritual role of parenting. Spiritual Parenting introduces the simple but revolutionary concept that parents are, by the power of God's Spirit, to obey and depend on God in order to create an environment God can use to beckon their children to Him.

Her journey of recovery from bipolar disorder and her insights are described in this book, an autobiography of Carol Noyes. When Carol went through mid-life crisis in the spring of 2006 her world was turned upside-down. Carol was able to wean herself off drugs, after over four years on psychiatric medications. She found natural alternatives that effectively helped her to recover and to lead a productive life. Carol believes that the current medical paradigm is inadequate and often unable to help individuals to heal and to bounce back. Carol nearly died from a combination of the swine flu and lithium poisoning. Her descent to the bottom of the metaphorical well provided the impetus for her to research non-drug therapies. These therapies, along with faith, hope, and courage, brought Carol back to a peaceful life. Carol recounts her life and investigates the factors that precipitated imbalance. She writes about her extraordinary experiences during expanded states of consciousness. She also delves into the world of symbols and mythologies, describing how they became poignant for her. Carol calls her experience a time of spiritual awakening; a time of developing self-esteem, learning to love herself, and finding her true purpose. She hopes that her insights will help others going through spiritual crisis. Those interested in humanistic psychology, personal growth, and spirituality may find this book fascinating.

Pagan Parenting by Kristin Madden is the first book to honestly and boldly approach all of the problems a Pagan might face while trying to raise a child. This is an excellent book to have, whether you have a child now, or are planning on having one soon. One of the problems faced by all parents is what to say when you get those "tough" questions from youngsters. You have to be honest, but at the same time it is important to speak to them at their level so they are sure to understand. How do you answer when a child asks, "Will you die? What happens when you die? Do animals have spirits?" With older children the questions can become even more difficult. "My boyfriend/girlfriend wants me to have sex. What should I do?" The answers suggested in this book are not of the this-is-what-you-must-say type, but rather are open-ended. Madden points out possible responses and problems with the answers you may consider giving. In this way your responses can be totally your own. Another important aspect of raising a Pagan child is being able to help that child develop her or his psychic and magical abilities. Young children may not have the ability to concentrate for long periods of time, and quick-witted older children may become bored. The author suggests many fun activities which turn psychic, magical, and spiritual development into games. This will allow your child to develop and keep those abilities without becoming bored or disinterested. What should you do if your child decides to look at another religion or become a member of another religion? This has never been dealt with in a book for Pagan parents. Until now. Until here. Until Pagan Parenting. In some ways it is impossible to fully describe this book. It covers so many things about raising Pagan children that to focus on one leaves out the others. To find out how important this book is, you just have to read it.

A guide for raising children to be Christ-following adults and parents With three adult children, eleven grandkids, and over forty-five years in Christian education, Glen and Ellen Schuknecht are asked a lot of parenting questions. But the most common question is always "How do I raise my kids to love God and love family--even after they've left my nest?" The truth is that all the rules in the world will do nothing if parents don't reach their kids' hearts. Through compelling, insightful stories from parents and grandparents who've been in the trenches, the Schuknechts demonstrate why that heart-level connection is so crucial in building long-lasting, connected relationships with a foundation of Christ. These stories are intertwined with ideas, tips, and biblical truths any parent can engage with, including a parent-coaching questionnaire to help readers build a more connected parenting style. The authors' fresh approach empowers parents to find their own vision for their families, tailor-made to their children and their circumstances. There's no magic formula here--just truth, grace, and hope instead of to-do lists. Glen and Ellen come alongside fellow parents and grandparents to help them find the ideas they crave, the hope they need, and the grace they must have to raise passionate and God-connected future generations.
