Book Clubs are great!A Book Club serves many useful purposes: First, and most importantly, it gives you access to credible information on titles that you might be interested in reading, from people whose opinion you are likely to trust.Second, it is a great social tool: a way to meet and interact with people who share a very prominent interest with you - that of a shared respect for great works of literature. Finally, it also helps you populate your to-read list, and make sure that you always have a recommendation stored away in the back of your mind for a rainy day. However, in the times in which we live, physical Book Clubs are not always accessible. The Modern Day Book ClubsThis book fills the void; within its pages, you can find book recommendations of three kinds. If you are a casual reader, you might want to start with the chapters that are dedicated to popular literature, both fiction and non-fiction. If you are a more seasoned book aficionado, and are looking for some deep cuts, the chapters dedicated to obscure books are a great way to get started. Finally, the last chapter of this book is dedicated to wild card recommendations; you can dip into it at any time and discover a book that might be a critics' dream or an audience's pick, a mammoth volume filled with dense meaning and allegory, or a quick read that spent weeks and years on book lists everywhere, but that might not have scored as highly with critics as the others elsewhere on this list.In this volume, you are given fortnightly book recommendations to tide you through an entire year! Every book title comes with three important pieces of data: the name of the author, the year of publication, and an average reader rating (out of 100). These three are all you need to discover a potentially new great book; this is all about exploration.I've made sure to give you more book recommendations for a fortnight than you can possibly finish reading; this way, you can use this book reading list year after year, and become a true bibliophile. Each book listed here has a rating out of 100. This is tallied from millions of other reader ratings, and is an accurate assessment of how much you can expect to enjoy the book. Each fortnight's recommendation set has a fairly large number of books in it; depending on how much free time you have, you might choose to read 1-3 of those books. Two more pieces of information can help you shortlist the books you want to read in a given fortnight. First, I have added the suggested number of hours that I took to read each book in the list. This does not necessarily mean that a big number of hours corresponds to a really long book; I sometimes re-read a short book many times if it's really profound. Remember, your mileage may vary! Finally, for those of you that are into Numerology, I have added a metric on the Lucky Number associated with each book (I calculated that from the number of pages in my copy; it took forever!). If your lucky number matches with a book in the list, it might just be a sign from the heavens!Happy Reading!

Wouldn't life be better if you were free of the daily grind - the conventional job and boss - and instead succeeded or failed purely on the merits of your own investment choices? Free Capital is a window into this world. Based on a series of interviews, it outlines the investing strategies, wisdom and lifestyles of 12 highly successful private investors. Each of them has accumulated £1m or more - in most cases considerably more - mainly from stock market investment. Six are 'ISA millionaires' who have £1m or more in a tax-free ISA, a result which is arithmetically impossible without exceptional investment returns. Some have several academic degrees or strong City backgrounds; others left school with few qualifications and are entirely self-taught as investors. Some invest most of their money in very few shares and hold them for years at a time; others make dozens of trades every day, and hold them for at most a few hours. Some are inveterate networkers, who spend their day talking to managers at companies in which they invest; for others a share is just a symbol on a screen, and a price chart shows most of what they need to know to make their trading decisions. Free capital - money surplus to immediate living expenses - is the raw material with which these investors work. It can also be thought of as their psychological habitat, free from the petty tribulations of office politics. Lastly, free capital describes the footloose nature of their assets, which can be quickly redirected towards any type of investment anywhere in the world, without the constraints which institutional investors often face. Although it presents many advanced insights and valuable investment hints, this is not an overly technical book. It offers practical ideas and inspiration, with revealing detail and minimal jargon, making it an indispensable read for novice and experienced investors alike.

THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES, USA TODAY BESTSELLER, & INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER! Look for The Lies I Tell, the next novel from Julie Clark, coming in June 2022! "The Last Flight is thoroughly absorbing—not only because of its tantalizing plot and deft pacing, but also because of its unexpected poignancy and its satisfying, if bittersweet, resolution. The characters get under your skin."—The New York Times Book Review Two women. Two flights. One last chance to disappear. Claire Cook has a perfect life. Married to the scion of a political dynasty, with a Manhattan townhouse and a staff of ten, her surroundings are elegant, her days flawlessly choreographed, and her future auspicious. But behind closed doors, nothing is quite as it seems. That perfect husband has a temper that burns bright and he's not above using his staff to track Claire's every move. What he doesn't know is that Claire has worked for months on a plan to vanish. A plan that takes her to the airport, poised to run from it all. But a chance meeting in the airport bar brings her together with a woman whose circumstances seem equally dire. Together they make a last-minute decision. The two women switch tickets, with Claire taking Eva's flight to Oakland, and Eva traveling to Puerto Rico as Claire. They believe the swap will give each of them the head start they need to begin again somewhere far away. But when the flight to Puerto Rico crashes, Claire realizes it's no longer a head start but a new life. Cut off, out of options, with the news of her death about to explode in the media, Claire will assume Eva's identity, and along with it, the secrets Eva fought so hard to keep hidden. For fans of Lisa Jewell and Liv Constantine, The Last Flight is the story of two women—both alone, both scared—and one agonizing decision that will change the trajectory of both of their lives. Praise for The Last Flight: "The Last Flight is a wild ride: One part Strangers on a Train, one part Breaking Bad, with more twists than an amusement park roller coaster! Julie Clark is a devilishly inventive storyteller." —Janelle Brown, New York Times bestselling author of Watch Me Disappear and Pretty Things "The Last Flight is everything you want in a book: a gripping story of suspense; haunting, vulnerable characters; and a chilling and surprising ending that stays with you long after the last page." —Aimee Molloy, New York Times bestselling author of The Perfect Mother "The perfect combination of beautiful prose and high suspense, and an ending that I guarantee will catch you off guard." —Kimberly Belle, internationally bestselling author of Dear Wife and The Marriage Lie "The Last Flight sweeps you into a thrilling story of two desperate women who will do anything to escape their lives. Both poignant and addictive, you'll race through the pages to the novel's chilling end. A must read of the summer!" —Kaira Rouda, internationally bestselling author of Best Day Ever and The Favorite

The first complete guide-for use by adults and children-to creating fun and educational book clubs for kids. As authors of The Book Club Cookbook, the classic guide to integrating great food and food-related discussion into book club gatherings, Judy Gelman and Vicki Levy Krupp hear a common refrain from parents, librarians, teachers, community leaders and kids themselves: "How about writing a book for kids' book clubs?" Indeed, in recent years youth organizations, parents, libraries, schools, and our local, state, and federal governments have launched thousands of book clubs for children as a way to counter falling literacy rates and foster a love of reading. Based on surveys representing five hundred youth book clubs across the country and interviews with parents, kids, educators, and librarians, The Kids' Book Club Book features: _- the top fifty favorite book club reads for children ages eight to eighteen; _- ideas and advice on forming great kids' book clubs-and tips for kids who want to start their own book clubs; _- recipes, activities, and insights from such bestselling children's book authors as Christopher Paolini, Lois Lowry, Jerry Spinelli, Nancy Farmer, Christopher Paul Curtis, Andrew Clements, Laurie Halse Anderson, Norton Juster, and many others. From recipes for the Dump Punch and egg salad sandwiches included in Kate DiCamillo's Because of Winn-Dixie to instructionson how to make soap carvings like the ones left in the knot-hole of a tree in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, this book provides a bounty of ideas for making every kids' book club a success.
