What are Empaths?Empaths are highly sympathizing people, who possess an avid ability to sense the thoughts and feelings of those around them. Therapists use the term empath to refer to people who are capable of experiencing a great amount of empathy, usually to the extent of being able to put themselves in the shoes of the other person emotionally. However, the term empath can also be associated with a spiritual term, describing a person with the capability to read the emotions of others. Being an empath comes with various benefits. For example, empaths are typically amazing friends and partners. They are wonderful listeners. They are generous and big-hearted. They are always there for friends in times of need. And they are typically gifted with high intuitiveness and emotional intelligence. However, the same qualities that make empaths such amazing friends can often take an emotional toll on empaths themselves. Since empaths are able to feel the same emotions that their friends are going through, which can cause them to be overcome with agonizing emotions, and even anxiety or trauma.
