This book represents a study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of an English for Science and Technology (EST) program based on the Lexical Approach in learning and using lexical chunks and technical terms by students of the Technology Department in the Workers University, Egypt. This program was based mainly on the students' technical and linguistic needs. The study adopted the one-group experimental design.Consequently, a group of 37 first-year students were randomly selected, and they received training through the suggested program. The program consisted of six technical units and two revision units. It was also preceded by an orientation session aiming at helping the students get acquainted with the suggested program.By the end of the treatment, the study tests were administered to the experimental group. The post-administration revealed the effectiveness of the program in developing the experimental group students' skills in learning and using technical vocabulary.

Lexical cohesion is about meaning in text. It concerns the ways in which lexical items relate to each other and to other cohesive devices so that textual continuity is created. Traditionally, lexical cohesion (along with other types of cohesion) has been investigated in individual texts. With the advent of corpus techniques, however, there is potential to investigate lexical cohesion with reference to large corpora. This collection of papers illustrates a variety of corpus approaches to lexical cohesion. Contributions deal with lexical cohesion in relation to rhetorical structure, lexical bundles and discourse signalling, discourse intonation, semantic prosody, use of signalling nouns, and corpus linguistic theory.
