"For no Jane Austen could ever appear in Jane Austen. Amid happy wives and pathetic old maids, we see no successfully unmarried woman, and, despite the multitude of girls seeking to acquire "accomplishments," no artist either. What does appear is a ghostly No One, a narrative voice unmarked by age, gender, marital status, all the particulars that make a person - and might make a person peculiar. The Austen heroine must suppress her wit to become the one and not the other, to become, that is, a person fit to be tied in a conjugal knot. But for herself, Austen refuses personhood, with all its constraints and needs, and disappears into the sourceless anonymity of her style. Though often treasured for its universality, that style marks the specific impasse of a writer whose self-representation is impossible without the prospect of shame.".

YOU ARE A LIVING MAGNET! You are where you are today because of the Law of Attraction. The Bible teaches us in Proverbs 23:7 that what a person allows to be part of their dominant thoughts then becomes who they are. Thoughts become things! Let Rich Cavaness and Leo Schreven explain for you how The Secret applies to your life from the Creator God's perspective. Until now there has not been a book that has offered all the pieces to the puzzle - now Decoding The Secret addresses the Law of Attraction from a mental, physical, emotional, financial, social and most importantly, from a spiritual standpoint. THIS BOOK WILL ADDRESS THESE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS: * Why do things always seem to go wrong for you? * Why does money seem to avoid you like the plague? * Why is your life a living testament of your dominant thoughts? * How does God work with the Law of Attraction? * Why does your lack of faith and belief prevent God's blessing? * How can you visualize and focus turn dreams into reality? * Why can your tongue be either a miracle or a curse? Using an open-minded approach, explaining clearly how The Secret is very real in our lives and biblically proven, Rich and Leo, who are living testimonies to the Law of Attraction, will challenge and convince you that there is a God in the Universe who hears and answers your prayers... Ask, Believe, and Receive!

This book offers a new reading of early modern romance in the light of historically contemporary accounts of mind, and specifically the medical tradition of love-melancholy. The book argues that the medical profile of the melancholic lover provides an essential context for understanding the characteristic patterns of romance: narrative deferral, epistemological uncertainty, and the endless quest for a quasi-phantasmic beloved. Unlike many recent studies of romance, this book establishes a detailed historical basis for investigating the psychological structure of romance. Wells begins by tracing the development of the medical disorder first known in the Latin west as amor hereos (lovesickness) from its earliest roots in Greek and Arabic medicine to its translation into the Latin medical tradition. Drawing on this detailed historical material, the book considers three important early modern romances: Ariosto's Orlando Furioso, Tasso's Gerusalemme Liberata, and Spenser's The Faerie Queene, concluding with a brief consideration of the significance of this literary and medical legacy for Romanticism. Most broadly, the interdisciplinary nature of this study allows the author to investigate the central critical problem of early modern subjectivity in substantially new ways.

"Madame Defarge is one of Dickens''supreme villainesses. Her secret drives her to seek a revenge so strong that it ties her to the French revolution. In this short play, the main story of Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities becomes the peripheral story to that of Madame Defarge and her single-minded revenge. As the full company gathers to speak Dickens' immortal lines "It was the best of times-it was the worst of times..." Madame Defarge is revealed in her husband's wine shop in the poorest district of Paris. From here her plots and machinations involve the innocent Lucie Manette and her father, Dr. Manette, returned to life after an 18-year imprisonment in the Bastille, and the heroic Charles Darnay and his wicked uncle, the Marquis St. Evremonde. Somehow they are all involved in Madame Defarge's secret, which is revealed in the climactic trial scene before the French tribunal-where the convicted are sent to La Guillotine. This hair-raising drama unfolds at a lightening pace and beautifully dramatizes the reasons the poor of France revolted. A myriad of interesting characters and a great ensemble opportunity play out this unusual slant on Dickens' classic novel."--Publisher's website.
