People believe faeries aren’t real. They’re wrong. Lily Boyd always thought her grandmother was a little eccentric. She never suspected the old rhymes and children’s games the old woman taught her when she was a kid were anything but colorful tradition, and when her mother moved the family to Manchester and forbade her from returning to the Scottish Highlands, she just forgot the ancient tales. However, when she returns years later to help her grandmother after she’s been injured in an accident, the memories start to trickle back… along with the unexplainable. Lily’s grandmother is gone. Strange creatures, dark and terrible, have invaded her home. Her savior is darker, more terrible than those who would have killed her, and he has his own agenda, his own goals. Troy’s her only lead, but can she trust him? Can she learn the rules of his game before losing everything she cares about? Don’t give a faerie your name. Don’t thank them. And never, ever trust them…

This bundle includes the complete Faerie Sworn series: 3 novels plus 1 novella THE WILD HUNT People believe faeries aren’t real. Don’t give them your thanks. And never, ever give them your trust… THE WILD CURSE Faeries play a game mortals cannot win... or can they? Lily Boyd has made many mistakes: she has trusted blindly, she has freely given her name and she has indebted herself to faeries both dark and light. It seems she's already lost the game, but she still has one winning card up her sleeve: the Wild Horn, the one item of power that can summon the unstoppable Wild Hunt. With the balance between Seelie and Unseelie Courts in her hands, Lily must wisely choose her allies: should she side with Cadowain, the light Knight who swore to help her find her missing grandmother? Or should she keep trusting Troy, the dark Trickster who has the power to command her at will through her True Name? Either way, Lily needs to keep her head and formulate a plan to find her grandmother before it's too late. She needs to remind the immortal faeries that she, too, is willing to play... and they're not unbeatable. When playing for the win, do not lose sight of what you're willing to sacrifice FAERIE HEARTS How far would you go for vengeance? After losing his one true friend to treachery and deceit, Troy is willing to go to great lengths to ensure the only other person that ever held an interest for him has a chance of survival. Even if doing so means risking the wrath of the Unseelie Queen, entering into impossible bargains and stirring secrets buried long before Time was born. How much would you risk for curiosity? Troy might be a solitary fae who despises the games of court, but he is also the Unseelie Trickster. When he chooses to play, he always wins. No odds are truly insurmountable. THE WILD HERALD Beware the broken ones. They have nothing to lose. Lily’s gambit failed and the fallout is devastating. She misplaced her trust, betrayed the one who least deserved it and gave up the Wild Horn. She has lost. Unfortunately, Lily doesn’t have time to mourn for her mistakes. The most powerful weapon known to Fay and men alike is on its way to the Seelie Queen’s hands, and if it reaches its destination, war will ravage both Courts. The only one who can stop the unraveling of the eternal balance between Summer and Winter is the Wild Herald. Lily Boyd adopted that name once. Now she must embrace it. With Troy by her side and under Marast’s protection, she needs to outplay everyone and master the secrets of the Wild Hunt before it’s too late. But are the Unseelie Trickster and the Hunter enough to stand against two Queens, and to unmake a legend? Beware those who broke and learned to stand up again. They will not lose

“Nothing more simple, I assure you. . . . But I’ll tell you what. You must have your mind, your nerve, and everything in harmony. Don’t look at your gun, simply follow the object with the end of it, as if the tip of the barrel was the point of your finger.”—Annie Oakley Annie Oakley is a legend: America’s greatest female sharpshooter, a woman who triumphed in the masculine world of road shows and firearms. Despite her great fame, the popular image of Annie Oakley is far from true. She was neither a swaggering western gal nor a sweet “little girl.” Annie Oakley was a competitive and resolute woman who wanted to be the best and succeeded. In this comprehensive biography Shirl Kasper sets the record straight, giving us an accurate, honest, and compelling portrait of the woman known as “Little Sure Shot.” Born Phoebe Ann Moses in Ohio in 1860, Annie took her first shot at age eight—“one of the best shots I ever made,” Annie later said. It was the start of her lifelong fascination with shooting. Early local acclaim led to a contest with Frank Butler, a professional sharpshooter. Annie won—and Frank fell in love with her. Annie and Frank (who eventually gave up his own act to be Annie’s manager) were wed not long after and remained married for forty-two years, until their deaths in 1926 just days apart. Annie’s sharpshooting career began while on the road with Frank’s show, but she rose to fame in her seventeen years with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West. Her speed, agility, uncanny precision, and charm soon made Annie world famous. Shooting was her passion; apart from her career with the Wild West, Annie hunted, shot trap, entered many shooting contests, performed for World War I troops, and, in her retirement years, taught thousands of women how to shoot. Annie Oakley provides a vivid and unforgettable portrait of this American original: a prim and proper woman, conservative in her views, hardworking and frugal, whose greatest source of pride was to be accepted as “a lady.” Significant events are documented here for the first time: Annie’s decision to join the struggling Wild West show; her meeting with Sitting Bull; the nature of her feud with Lillian Smith, another Wild West markswoman; and the real reason that Annie’s hair suddenly turned white when she was only forty-one. Thoroughly researched, fully annotated, and entirely unsentimental, this volume is the most complete and accurate record of Annie Oakley’s life and achievements.

William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody, star of the American West, began his journey to fame at age twenty-three, when he met writer Ned Buntline. The pulp novels Buntline later penned were loosely based on Cody’s scouting and bison-hunting adventures and sparked a national sensation. Other writers picked up the living legend of “Buffalo Bill” for their own pulp novels, and in 1872 Buntline produced a theatrical show starring Cody himself. In 1883, Cody opened his own show, Buffalo Bill’s Wild West, which ultimately became the foundation for the world’s image of the American frontier. After the Civil War, new transcontinental railroads aided rapid westward expansion, fostering Americans’ long-held fascination with their western frontier. The railroads enabled traveling shows to move farther and faster, and improved printing technologies allowed those shows to print in large sizes and quantities lively color posters and advertisements. Cody’s show team partnered with printers, lithographers, photographers, and iconic western American artists, such as Frederic Remington and Charles Schreyvogel, to create posters and advertisements for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West. Circuses and other shows used similar techniques, but Cody’s team perfected them, creating unique posters that branded Buffalo Bill’s Wild West as the true Wild West experience. They helped attract patrons from across the nation and ultimately from around the world at every stop the traveling show made. In Art and Advertising in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West, Michelle Delaney showcases these numerous posters in full color, many of which have never before been reproduced, pairing them with new research into previously inaccessible manuscript and photograph collections. Her study also includes Cody’s correspondence with his staff, revealing the showman’s friendships with notable American and European artists and his show’s complex, modern publicity model. Beautifully designed, Art and Advertising in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West presents a new perspective on the art, innovation, and advertising acumen that created the international frontier experience of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West.

Impertinences: Selected Writings of Elia Peattie is a collection of articles, editorials, and narratives by Elia Peattie written during her tenure at the Omaha World-Herald from 1888 to 1896, richly illustrated with photographs from the period. Elia (Wilkinson) Peattie (1862?1935) was born during the Civil War and came of age at the advent of the era of the New Woman. In many ways Peattie embodied this new age of independence for women, writing both fiction and journalism and becoming one of the first Plains women to write editorial columns in a major newspaper that addressed public issues. ø Not shy with her opinions about current events in the state of Nebraska in the late nineteenth century, Peattie tackled subjects such as the Wounded Knee Massacre, capital punishment and lynchings, prostitution, the Omaha stockyards, beet-field workers in Grand Island, schools and child rearing, the need for orphanages, shelters for unwed mothers, charity hospitals, and the New Woman. ø Editor Susanne George Bloomfield includes a biography of Peattie, who is described as "tall, dignified, and kindly, and possessing a wicked sense of humor." Peattie's work now stands as a rare and valuable history of Nebraska, showing us a lively frontier society through the eyes of a woman engaged in the life of her community and her own struggle to balance her family and career
